Islands Restaurant Carmel Mountain

My family of four came in for the first time around April 1st and was totally blown away by the quality of the food. It was amazing and we couldn't wait to come back. When we returned on April 29th everything had changed. There was a new menu, the burgers were burnt, bland, and overcooked. The buns were soggy and sad and fell apart before you could finish them. The chips were crushed into dust, the fries were overcooked and less than an inch long and everything was either flat out gross or just mediocre. My son cried on the way home because it wasn't good anymore after being so excited to come back. I thought we had found our new favorite burger joint, but in less than four weeks everything good was replaced with a weak facsimile of what it once was. Even the service was mediocre, we got placed in the corner with another family who had out of control kids poking my son and climbing on their table. If I could give 0 stars, I would. We came here for lunch and my pregnant sister ordered tacos that came with pineapple on them. After her first bite, she tells everyone at the table to try it because it tastes like beer. After a few of us tried it and agreed, we tell our waitress who says she will let the manager know. The manager then comes over and says, “yeah they are kind of old. Is there anything else I can get you?” With a big smile on his face. This is absolutely disgusting to be serving old enough pineapple that is smells and tastes like beer. After this, the only thing he did was take the tacos off the bill. We will never return to islands, it is not worth the risk of getting sick from eating OLD food when the cook and managers are aware. So disappointed and disgusted that we ate their food, how do we know if anything else was old?

I truly enjoyed this meal! The staff were on the ball. I wanted fkr nothing but extra napkins. The bugrer was amazing. The fries were good and the onion rings are not to be missed! I wish I had had just onion rings but wanted to try both. Their plain ice tea was exactly what I wanted and I topped it off with a sweet warm brownie. Very tasty.
