Honey-Jam Cafe Plainfield

I really wanted to like this place. I drive by it everyday and the name, "Honey Jam Cafe" is so enticing. So today I had the opportunity and I stopped in for breakfast. First the good: The restaurant is fairly new and is spacious and clean. It has been in it's current configuration for about 7 months. It wasn't busy at 8:00 on a Thursday morning and I was seated immediately. The wait staff was pleasant and efficient. My food was delivered quickly. Now the not so good: Although I ordered a simple meal of Oatmeal and a side of sausage, the oatmeal was not hot. Lukewarm at best. The fruit that came with the oatmeal was generous and fresh. The sausage was of the "Brown and Serve" quality...not good. Anyone who has eaten real breakfast sausage; preferably hand formed, can tell the difference in taste and appearance. At the prices charged; it should have been much better. So overall....3 stars!

Unexpectedly good. Fresh eggs, tasty bacon and my wife says the pumpkin pancakes are to die for. Loved the regular pancakes too. The sandwiches looked really good too especially the Reuben and so did the Mamosas. Will definitely be back soon. Food : 5/5 | Service : 4/5 | Atmosphere : 4/5 … More

Decent good tasting food but pretty expensive for what you get. This place used to be called Broken Yolk and before that it was Bob Evans. Since it became Honey Jam Cafe they have doubled the seating. Initially their service was not that good but it's become much better and now it's always packed. Worth a visit but as I said, the food is a bit more expensive than it should be IMO.
