Hobnobber's Variety Bar & Restaurant

We ate here a few years ago on a whim we were hungry and couldn’t find another place. Boy were we not disappointed! Great home cooked food and really great prices. We hunted this place down again on our most recent trip for breakfast. So much food for less than $10. This is must each time we come to New Orleans.

This place changed who I am as a person, on earth. Good people great food, came here four times in a week. Three times for breakfast, can't go wrong but try the shrimp and grits. Also, came for lunch and had a shrimp po boy. Special.

Visited this place on my last day in New Orleans for lunch. The long hallway leading into the restaurant was something I wasn’t expecting especially someone sitting in front of the hallway handing you a paper menu asking if you are going into the restaurant, very much like a bouncer to a club ???? Once you entered the restaurant, you would find a small dining area with maybe 5-6 tables. It’s self serve so you just need to order your food at the counter/window and pickup there too. The food were quite good and supposedly authentic (I can’t really judge since this is my first time visiting the city). I ordered the gumbo and poboy sandwich with fried shrimps. They were pretty good and reasonably priced! You can tell this place mainly serves locals so it must be legit! The fountain drinks including iced tea with both sugar and sugarless options (actual iced tea, not nestle one). Overall food was good, atmosphere was a bit lacking in my opinion.
