Definitely one of the best restaurants in the triangle. Great place if you’re looking to be indulgent. Me and my partner love to stay at the Umstead, get a spa treatment, then a multi course meal at Heron’s. The plating is gorgeous so great place for anyone who loves to post their food! Very accommodating for vegetarians which is always wonderful. The breakfast is also so good! I love the cheesy grits and little biscuits. Staff is super knowledgeable and great at giving wine pairings.
The experience was very good. Amazing service, ambience, and presentation. However, the food itself was a little bit below expectations personally. It was good don't get me wrong, but the expectations surrounding an establishment like this are pretty enormous. It just felt like I'd had comparative or higher quality duck and dessert elsewhere at much lower cost. Lobster roll and bread starters were on point though.
We came for Chef Greene’s Omakase Menu with wine pairing and the presentation and story telling of this 3 hour art inspired experience just left us wanting more. From the second we sat down beginning with the tea service; the details, service, and timing of this gastronomic Odyssey are impeccable. Just look at the plating of every dish! Each one incorporating the plates and flatware as a new canvas. Chef Green literally brings each dish alive by creating an interaction. Whether it be the server pouring the final touches of the dish or using dry ice to add sensory to the experience, each course is truly a masterpiece taking all 5 senses into consideration. If you haven’t had the opportunity to try the Omakase make it a priority. It’s constantly changing and blows my mind every time.
