El Mofongo Restaurant

I just left this little gem of a restaurant. My meal was absolutely amazing! It is a "Caribbean" restaurant, but really Puerto Rican, from what I understand. It's not fancy, but very clean and down home feeling. The cook (and I believe owner) came out to say hello. We ordered the special of the day, fritofongo. It was HUGE! and soo tasty. Mofongo is fried green plantain, in this case it was like a shell, in which the filling of beef and shrimp and veggies were inserted. I didn't even eat 1/4 of it, and I was stuffed. I have a meal for 2 more days, HAHA. If you like new experiences and if you like Latin food, I highly recommend this place.

Super yummy ! Great portions and price oh and YUMMY!! Gave a 4 because the service was a bit lacking in fact the chef was a much better hostess than the hostess. With a dining a experience such as any it helps to be welcoming to those who may seem out of place never know how much they know or what they know ???? & I know good mofongo which is why I overlooked some things many diners would not overlook no matter the situation. So 4 stars service is severely lacking but food definitely makes you feel better about it

Good Puerto Rican food. A little disappointed they didn't serve pastels. The alcapurria was very flavorful, the pernil was tasty but the rice was a tad bland-suggest more sofrito and Sazón. Overall, the food is good and we will return when in town.
