Denny's

While staying overnight at the Greater Chicago Truck Stop, my husband & I, and our son (also a trucker) walked down to Denny's for dinner and it was well worth it ! The place was clean, our waiter was friendly, prompt and eager to serve, and the food was great ! I've grown fond of the 9 Grain Pancakes, which, in my opinion, can be eaten with or without syrup because the flavor is just that good and the portion size leaves me one to eat later ! I would definitely go to this Denny's again if back in the area. If I had to pick a downside, it would be the small bathroom, but that's not enough to lose any stars over because well, if you're there for the bathrooms then you're there for the wrong reason to begin with, lol !!!

I ordered a burger. I didn't expect much. They didn't even ask what temp I would prefer. When I saw it, the burger was huge. I cut into it and saw that it was well-done. I was immediately disappointed. But then I took my first bite, and somehow, this well-done burger was juicy. It was flavorful even the tomatoes were perfectly ripe and crispy. The fries were a cross between a steak fry and a crinkle cut French fry and were absolutely delicious. It's the next day and I'm still thinking about that perfectly cooked burger and could go for another. While I can't remember our servers name, she was awesome. Waiting on all the tables in the dining room, checking out guests, seating guests, and bagging carry out orders. At one point, I'm sure she was cooking too. She was awesome, though the restaurant was obviously short staffed. Not bad. There's a few different Denny's locations in the area, and this one beat them! It was a really busy Saturday morning and service was prompt and the food was good. Was worried that it would take a long time due to the dining room being nearly full, but they nailed it. Good job guys!
