I have been eating from David Chu's since they opened back in the early 2000's. Yani, Jennifer and Amy are all fabulous, genuinely good people. They have always made fantastic food for me and given me incredible service. (One note- kosher meat and poultry is much more costly to the restaurant- they pay a lot more for the meat and poultry) That is reflected in the pricing, but that is to be expected.
The food is decent, though not as good as the price may suggest. I found the service also pretty lacking for me. I had to practically beg for the check and still ended up going to the front after waiting over 10 mins for it, or any sort of attention. I think it really should be better for the price.
If you are Kosher, eat here. If you're not, go somewhere else for better Chinese food. I would guess that many people reviewing here have limited places to eat due to Kosher restrictions, so they may be biased. Pretty disappointed with dinner here. Ordered peking duck and crispy eggplant. Almost $80 for just that. Peking Duck was one of the worst I've ever had. Looks like they either took roast duck and over cooked it or they reheated some older duck. I've NEVER seen Peking Duck MEAT browned to the point that it looked like it was roasted over a fire and it was extremely dry. The skin was dry, flavorless, and tasted old. Even the pancakes were thick and tasted like they took flour tortillas and steamed them. I was torn on the crispy eggplant. I'm not sure if it was crispy when they first brought it, but then they covered in sweet brown sauce that made it soggy. Sorry photos are from when we got home. Overall, just a disappointing meal! I won't be back there.
