I have enjoyed the food and atmosphere of the Chart House family of restaurants for many years. Each CH has its own, distinctive looks and feel. Many CH restaurants are in historic buildings, or are styled to look the local architectural styles. Most of the CH are in or near waterfronts. Boston CH is no exception. I was supposed to meet some friends but still wanted to try the Boston version of CH, si I went during their Happy Hour (4:00-6:00pm).aa usual, I sat at the bar (gives me an opportunity to interact with bartenders and servers, and observe the operations). I ordered several appetizers and Happy Hour small plates and I was surprised that portion size, quality of the food and value were fantastic. I subtracted a * because of the erratic and sometimes discombobulated service.
Our flight was delayed so I called the restaurant to ask if they could hold our table. The hostess was so kind & said it was no problem. We arrived 15 minutes late for our 6:15 pm reservation & were greeted by a friendly valet who wished us a wicked good time. This historic place is on a beautiful wharf location. We were seated immediately & enjoyed a delicious dinner. I noticed by 7pm the place was filled to capacity which made service a little slower, but our experience overall was excellent. Highly recommend the oysters, clam chowder & lobster!
This place is exactly what I would hope having seafood in Boston would be like. And while we spent $100 per person on a late lunch the service and attention to detail with our meal was abysmal! Our waiter was extremely slow and inexperienced. Each transition left us waiting 5-10 min for him to show up. I ordered the live lobster and they delivered it and my wife got half way through the meal before I finally got up and asked for help or utensils.
