Champs Smokehouse BBQ & Catering

I'm sorry to say not as good as advertised. I'd heard this was Bakersfield's best BBQ, better than Salty's, etc. Our first (probably last) experience was not good. We arrived when they opened at 11 am. to request to-go order. They wouldn't take cash, weren't setup up for it yet. At 11A.M.? You're a restaurant and you're NOT setup to take cash YET??? Then, seemed like every type meat we requested (3 different ones) they were either out of that or it wasn't ready yet. We finally had to ask what they DID have available!!! The young blonde cashier acted like we were a bother to her. Wasn't really interested in taking our order. Maybe having a bad day, Idk? We weren't impressed. When got home with our order it was a Styrofoam tray with 4 round Styrofoam containers of minimal food portions (see photo). If you're in the mood for good BBQ I wouldn't recommend this place for obvious reasons. I don't think Salty's has anything to worry about.

If your going to or through Bakersfield this is THE PLACE to stop and grab a bite PERIOD!! The people here were absolutely great food was amazing!! Chamos should be Bakersfields main tourism destination!!

Absolutely delicious food with unique, homestyle touches to everything. Almost everything is smoked, which I love. The service is always great and I appreciate that most of the beer taps at the small bar are devoted to local selections from Lengthwise, Temblor, etc. The deserts are amazing but I never have room.
