Is Casa Vega touristy? Yes. But that’s probably the reason why you are there so you shouldn’t be shocked at it being busy, rushed service, expensive, etc. I thought the food (while overpriced) was great! They have all the classics and any of their combo plates make a great meal. We started off with the Tostada Chiquita, which is kinda like a taco salad on a tostada? It was worth going back for by itself. The restaurants decor is classic and really makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Service was good, but a bit rushed. We never had to worry about drink refills or plates being removed. I would come back in a heartbeat!
I've been coming to Casa Vega for over 35 years and have always loved this place. The service was good, the food was good, and the drinks were good. The vibe is dark and candlelit and usually very busy with a lot of fun people. However last night was totally different. I haven't been here since the pandemic but we were excited to come back. I came here with my friend and we ordered a chicken quesadilla and a burrito, we each had one drink. My friend had a strawberry margarita and I had a beer. Our bill came out to $99.86 insane!! We thought this was a mistake. I couldn't believe my eyes when I got the bill. The food was blah. You can totally tell they have cut back on the quality of food they serve now. The food used to be so good and now it's just blah. Also the service has gone down as well. We had to ask for salsa six times, and keep trying to flag down someone to refill our water. I have been coming here for so many years and have always enjoyed this place. It's hard to say this bu
Reasonable valet parking. Food was served promptly to all of us at the same time. There are many GF choices. The food was good but not outstanding. The margaritas were syrupy sweet and there was no other option. The waiter said they use prepared mixes, yuck. Also the mole sauce was unusually sweet and the flavor was bland. We're into visit again, I would enjoy some tequila neat, with the table-made guacamole. Then go elsewhere.
