Bread and Ink is a Hawthorne beloved staple in Portland! The have is all: great atmosphere with large windows, friendly staff, and extraordinary food. Bread and Ink is one of those restaurants you know you can order anything off the menu and be thrilled with your selection. They are super knowledgeable about food, and know all the savory and sweet combinations. One of our favorites is their fried chicken and waffles. Their coffee and tea drinks are excellent.
The staff was delightful as was the food. We went on a Sunday afternoon and we were the only people in the dining area. The waitress tells me sometimes Sundays are super dead and sometimes they are super busy so it's worth grabbing a reservation just in case. I split a charcuterie board with my date and I got the artichoke soup which was served with a chunk of bread I'm pretty sure they made in-house because it was still oven hot and crispy. I'm rarely on this side of town but if I make it back over there I will very likely drop in again.
This is the worst eggs Benedict I have ever seen. You poorly put together this meal the meat is in clumps and is not on the muffin. The eggs are over cooked and appear to be hard Boiled. This is not Benedict and it looks nothing like it does on your menu. The meat is in big chunks and cold and disgusting. I’m very disappointed with the quality of this meal. I just can’t believe you’re selling this low quality type of breakfast. You should just take it off the menu if you don’t wanna properly prepare it. Thanks for charging me for food that went straight to the trash.
