I'm sorry to rain on the owner's parade here, especially with so many raving reviews. I really wanted to like the place. It was even more disappointing since I brought an out of town friend whom I talked into going for some really great and creative sushi, as they were tagged everywhere. Well, to say it was disappointment is an understatement. Ok, granted that I'm a little biased here given the fact that I've ran quite a few restaurants before and know how the sushi rice ought to be cooked and what fresh salmon looks and feels like. Still, I can say for sure that the night we ordered everything must've gone wrong at Bottle Rocket's kitchen. First of all, the rice was way overcooked, it was all mushy and resembled rice porridge more than anything from Japanese cuisine. Now, one can argue about the creativity and aesthetics, and yes, restaurant food should always look awesome and not just be tasty. Oh my goodness! Best sushi place I've ever come across, and I'm from Florida. Sushi near me will never taste the same. Mike was the best part of our Atlanta experience. He was the most laid back, charismatic, fun dude and we had the absolute pleasure of having him as a server. We will be back JUST for him. High quality, no wait, it was amazing.

I bought the diy sushi deal on scoutmob for this place and had a great time. The owner and chef were delightful. The deal included a dark and stormy cocktail, crab ragoon appetizer, all the ingredients to make 3 sushi pieces and a sake bomb. Tip you can choose your own seating so sit in front of the chef if you can. This way you get a better view and if you're lucky she will give you her sushi rolls.
