Boss Bird Kitchen

We went to check out a new spot on Blvd. Row (former location of 4 Pennies and A Handful of Wildflowers). Though I came for the Chicken & Waffle, I had to resort to a second choice due to them being out of waffles. To my surprise, this chicken sandwich (The Standard) was delicious!! I added the SoCal Slaw as it was the only sandwich on the menu that didn't come with any--the slaw combats heat on the spicier sandwich varieties. The chicken breast itself was quite large, juicy and greaseless despite being dredged in a crispy buttermilk breading. It comes on a toasted potato bun with lots of house brined pickles and their BBK sauce (sort of like Cane's Sauce). The fries are dusted in a house seasoning, and I added BeerBQ dipping sauce for them. They also serve lots of local brews including several from Helix Brewing Co. This is a simple and unassuming restaurant on first glance, but walking in we are greeted by good music and super friendly staff. Anthony waited on our table and was PHENOMENAL at recommendations. We ordered the Cali Hot Sandwich and the Seared Sandwich along with a side of mashed potatoes, a light beer, a Cucumber Refresher, and a Boss Bird cocktail. There was not a single bite that was not savory and delicious! The fries were perfectly crispy, the mashed potatoes were creamy and the right kind of spicy, the sandwiches were cooked to absolute perfection! Trust me, come HUNGRY and ready! Thank you, Anthony!

First time...ordered 6 piece tenders meal. Takeout. Chicken plump and juicy. Fries cold and soggy. Sauces just ok. Pickles nothing special. Cornbread best thing of meal. Will have to go back and try something else. Hope they improve.
