Awesome bacon board. Drinks were g0pd, not great. BBQ good efforts but not 100%. Service was sincere and on point. I think this is another good restaurant struggling to find workers and just can't keep up right now. Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: Yes Takeout: Yes Delivery: No … More
Bootleggers is a stop on a popular Old Town food tour, which we couldn't get into, so we made a point of stopping by for happy hour! We immensely enjoyed the BBQ sampler for two, with four kinds of smoked meat and sauce on the side. The meat was tender and moist and delicious, with pulled pork being my favorite, as always. The three sauces were ok, but with meat this food you hardly want to cover the flavor. Though the Dr. Pepper sauce was surprisingly good. The portion is large, we took at least a pound home! The cole slaw was sweet but tangy and not oozing. The beans were not sweet, but a little smokey. We added the Mac and cheese which was definitely oozing in the best possible way. The Apple Brandy Shandy is amazing if you like apple cider, which I do! Christopher the bartender was delightful and treated us to a shot of the house made apple pie moonshine which was so good we literally went back another night just for that! * I do have to put an asterisk to this review. Bootleggers is a real average BBQ joint. The brisket was on the dry side, Mac and cheese was forgettable. The french dip was above average. I was told the baked beans were OK. The prime rib was good not great. Not pictured are the mashed potatoes which were outstanding. We dined on a Sunday night around 5:30. The restaurant was half full, but we had to ask for a server after we had been seated for over 10 minutes. It took just over 50 minutes from order to first bite.
