Blue Iguana Salt Lake City

We found this tucked in the basement of a building and the reviews look pretty good so we had dinner. It was so good a week later we returned. It is the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had in a long time, and quite frankly, some of the best that I have ever had. The salsa was thick and not watery as is the case so often. Slightly spicy. Everyone agreed that the food had lots of flavor (partially responsible is the freshly made tortillas, not from a factory), and the fresh mix of meat and veggies. The meats must be marinated as I thought they had lots of flavor. The portions were quite large. Service was very good too. Next time I visit this area I plan to return to this restaurant. Only issue is parking can be a slight challenge although there is a garage next door and I think the first 90 minutes is free, but it is not opened on Sunday. Street parking is available though.

Found this restaurant when in downtown salt lake. It’s almost underground, there’s a cool lit up entrance. Atmosphere was so creative inside felt very authentic. Chips and salsa were amazing, I ordered the chila verde and it was enough for two people so nice portion sizes. Food was very good, and our server was so nice!!

This was hands down the best meal I’ve had in Salt Lake City. Not only was the food authentic and flavorful, but the service was out of this world. German, the general manager, was one of the kindest human beings I’ve ever met, and his entire staff made us feel at home. The mole was phenomenal and completely reasonable for the price, the margaritas were awesome, and the flan was some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve eaten at a ton of Mexican restaurants all the over the country, and this one takes the cake. I cannot wait to go back, definitely a must for birthdays, a night out, or just a nice family dinner. Even the tortillas are homemade and fresh, everything came out hot and delicious. The entire atmosphere is fun, vibrant, and festive. 5 stars!!!!!!
