Zinfandel used to be my favourite restaurant. I've always ordered the Kobe steak with mushroom sauce. The meat was tender and the sauce was delicious. Last night then steak was tough I wont order it again IF I come back.
I am rating this restaurant 5 stars for the food, however, I am taking away 3 stars for the poor service. We ordered the ox tail pasta, wagyu pot roast, and the new york steak and the dishes were great. When we entered, there was a total of five tables occupied at 800pm on this particular Sunday. Our server Scott seated us right away but took quite a bit of time checking in to take our orders. He never spoke to us after taking our orders. By the time we received our food there were only two tables occupied. He kept walking, talking and dancing around but forgot to refill our waters and never came back to check on us. When we were ready to leave, he "forgot" to pack our food to go and had to have another server step in to do his job. Service plays a significant part in the restaurant experience and I was disappointed today. Would not go back, especially as a person of color. I'm sure the couple across from us felt the same way. They didn't want to stay to eat either.
There was 1 disabled parking space and a bit of a walk. We were greeted and seated right away. The drinks are a little pricey. The food was good even though they ran out of gnocchi by noon.Had the French Dip sandwich. The Au just was on the bland side. As we got the bill, there was a 3-1/2 % charge for "Employee benefits and retirement ".The waitress who did a great job and was going to get a great tip lost that because of the charge.
