Zest Food Inc (兆豐烤涮吧)

Soooo I may have ordered too many skewers because I misunderstood the instructions. The numbers next to the skewer meant how many sticks you should receive with your order. This is an extremely clean restaurant. You are seated at a table where you scan a QR code to order. For skewers and water, they are delivered via a cute Chinese-voiced robot. For other bigger items, the attentive staff delivers it to your table. It’s a drier style of skewer, all the sticks are coated with herbs and spices. The Chinese pickled cabbage with cod soup tasted familiar — like home. I’d recommend this place. It’s cute, it’s novel. Like another reviewer, I think the only thing to improve is the hot plate where the skewers rest. The skewers come out really quickly so it is a struggle to eat them before they get cold.

Robot delivering food is an interesting gimmick, but it is actually not that efficient, nor accurate. We were missing dishes from our order. And after asking a waitress to check, she just delivered one of the missing dishes without saying a word, and quickly left. We had to ask again, and another dish came. One never came. We just gave up. Luckily, we got 2 out of 3 dishes without having to prove that we never got them. On one of the lamb meat on a stick, the meat was so thin that my son commented how they got the stick to go through it from beginning to end. Strangely, you can order online but can't pay online. Still have to go to the cashier to pay. Features: The Owner/ manager was not wearing a mask and walked around talking to customers. All of the waitress were wearing masks.

Food is great along with their ordering system. Really enjoy being able to order at the table and have the robot waiters serve the food. More efficient than many other restaurants in the Bay area
