Zeigler's BBQ & Catering

Clean restaurant and friendly staff. Today I tried the daily special. I liked the beans and the sausage, but I couldn't get into the brisket. It looked great, but was super dry and had weird taste. I tried to cover it in sauce, but it didn't really help. Maybe leftovers from yesterday and that's why it was on special.. who knows. Just a guess. I lived in Memphis for the last 12 years and have had tons of excellent brisket. I'll try again when not on special. Maybe just an off day as this place gets great reviews, or my taste buds are used to a different region.

I am not a person who has devoted his life to barbecue. I am a fan, however, and have sampled fare from numerous locations throughout the country. Zeigler's is without a doubt my absolute favorite. I make it a point to go here every time I visit my family in the area. I have boarded planes with pounds of pulled chicken to enlighten the DC area as to how good barbecue can actually be. It's the best.

I was there this past Sunday afternoon and was deeply disappointed. For the first time in my life I was served brisket that was BONE DRY! How on earth can one of the fattiest cuts of beef be bone dry unless the staff simply does not care what they are serving? The pork ribs were also quite dry and strangely lacking in flavor. The Brunswick stew was excellent, but I was there for southern BBQ and in this regard it was a deeply disappointing experience.
