Cool environment to "be cool" at, lol. Food and my margarita was OK, whatever we ate was pretty lackluster, but my husband kind of liked it. Staff was dragging feet but nice all the same. It was Sunday brunch and we could feel the lethargy, but they were trying... We never actually knew who our waiter was and never got a proper greeting. We had to ask for silverware and my fork had lipstick on it (not mine). Beautiful building and decor. You do pay for bill on those handheld devices and I think your waitress can see firsthand what type of tip you leave. Not a problem, but doesn't fit this type of restaurant.

I was in Sacramento for business and Zocalo was one of the places my boss recommended to me. I’m very lucky my boss is a fellow foodie because this place was excellent! It was so good, I went twice during the week I was in the area. I went for happy hour the first night of my stay to take advantage of sampling their menu while keeping costs down since I don’t get much back in reimbursement. I ordered a virgin mango margarita, fish tacos, and the potato/spinach flautas. Everything was delicious! My only issue was that the liquid from the salsa made the dishes soggy, though I will note I was taking pictures and videos. So maybe I need to dig in faster. I have a feeling the happy hour fish tacos are smaller, but I’m glad they were because I was stuffed by the time I finished the flautas. Each plate came with two each. And the mango margarita was so refreshing on such a hot day! The second time I went I ordered takeout because I had a separate evening class that I needed to prepare

The quality of food and drinks here are superb. Each cocktail and dish did not disappoint - they are packed with flavor. We ordered the shrimp tacos, mixed enchiladas, ceviche and ceviche verde. The real winner though, is their COCHINITA PIBIL … that was pure fire. I stole a bite from a friend’s plate and it made me instantly regret not ordering this. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Order it. You can celebrate a birthday by asking for their churros + ice cream with sparkling candles! Service is great - quick and easy. Venue is quite large and fits groups of any size (we were a group of eleven) - indoor and outdoor seating available. It does get busy so reservations are recommended. Parking is street parking or public lots.
