Zazzo's Pizza & Bar - Darien

I tried the pizza last year and swore off Zazzos , I relented because of hunger and delivery. Appetizer plate items were fried too hard which consisted of onion et rings, mushrooms , cheese sticks, zucchini sticks all of which were fried too dark and grease laden . The zucchini dissolved with the grease in your mouth upon 1st bite . The calamari was rubbery, chewy and greasy . It was as if all the fried food had been refried because the batter was soo hard and broken. the mushrooms were a ball of grease. The cheese sticks were actually sticks , fried so hard the cheese was hard The beef combo looked like sliced roast beef. Huge slices of beige beef with cheese melted to one side of sandwich Huge peppers. Sandwich half eaten and discarded, $50 worth of inedible food. Zazzoa I'm finished editing: 18 hrs later ears , throat , lips are itching. Hives and lumps are popping up on my skin , I feel nauseous , sweaty and itchy . It's no wonder I was wheezing about 1/2 hrs after sampling

Went to enjoy dinner with two friends. Ordered the Italian sausage and pepper dinner. Came with a bowl of soup...chose the tomato basil and it was super yummy! Dinner came with a baked potato half..which was just good enough...not too much. Took home some of the sausage and peppers as the portion was very nicely generous. Friends had Pasta dishes they enjoyed a lot. Waitress was super nice and attentive. It's a cool casual place..concrete floors and open ceiling. It's in a strip mall just to the north Of where The Patio is- on route 83. Very close to I-55....making it easy to get to. Have dined at their location on Ogden Avenue as well and have enjoyed that location also!

Ordered two appetizers to start. One was the pretzel bites stuffed with cheese and served with marinara sauce, the order comes with 7 pieces and is on the menu for $9.00. The second appetizer was the appetizer plate, comes with a mix of fried vegetables and is on the menu for $11.00. The online menu has wonderful pictures of what was ordered. Our waitress delivered the appetizers to our table. The pretzel bites were 9 regular bites (not stuffed but they were the kind you get in the freezer section of a grocery store) with a side of cheese. When we asked our waitress she told us that they have not had the menu item for some time and they have substituted what she served us. Why she didn't tell us this when we ordered I don't know. Next, the manager came to our table to address our concern. He explained that because of COVID his vendor has been unable to supply the menu item. I told him I understood but the substituted item is not what we ordered and we should have been told before it wa
