This fast paced, yet stylish southern bakery, bar and restaurant is bright, inviting and serving the BEST BISCUIT I’VE EVER HAD!!! It was warm, flaky on top with the perfect amount of salty and sweetness. We came for breakfast for the first time without any expectations. We made reservations so there was no wait. They did have to split our party of 6 into a group of 4 and a group of 2. I can’t remember the reason the couldn’t put the table together. It wasn’t a big deal and they were nice about it. The service was great. The drinks and food were delicious. We went back on a later date just to buy biscuits to go and they were equally delicious as eating it at the restaurant.
Food and vibe alone make Willa Jean a great bakery. The croissants are great and the drinks all hit the spot. The inside is spacious and there a few outdoor tables available pending weather. However, service needs to be improved. My order was forgotten or lost. Even a simple pre-made pastry order was neglected, but I saw those orders being expedited for others. There didn't seem to be consistency in how to serve those orders.
Willa Jean is another John Besh spot that I adore. Whether you are going for a quick coffee and pastry or whether you have a big group looking for an elevated boozy brunch experience with an upscale and modern ambience this place works! The food is delightful and you’ll be arguing over whether the corn bread or the biscuits are better. Try both and you will not be disappointed.
