After a hot sweaty day at the zoo, we were hungry. The Village Inn was nearby. Didn't realize it was Free Pie Wednesday. Virginia enthusiastically greeted us and showed us to our table. One ordered a breakfast skillet which was delicious. Virginia was very friendly and accommodating. We all had pie which was scrumptious and even more so with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
I love this place! I had a Strawberry Blintz or whatever they call it now with hash browns & coffee & got a free piece of strawberry rhubarb pie since it was Wednesday which I got to go since I had eaten my whole meal. The server was excellent. The atmosphere although busy was very pleasant.
Service was great. Food was really tasty. But the pie and cheesecake were disappointing. Really expensive for the cheesecake since it didn't qualify for the free (was $5+ for a slice!) And tasted worse than store bought. Then trying to pay was rough since I downloaded the app and wanted to get the $10 off first time app users. It didn't work for me and they had to call over 2 managers to try getting it to work (they both had no clue how to work the app and said they've been having difficulty with it). Took 10min just to get my bill paid.
