Vic's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria

Vic's took me straight back to my childhood in Jersey, with the correct variety of spice shakers, a kitchen that runs hot enough to require extra fans in the summer, and a bathroom you have to scoot around back for. This is a place where regulars are greeted with hugs and handshakes, where they inquire about your in-laws, and where 3 year-old kids ask their favorite server by name. Opera, and golden-age crooners play from the ceiling, half-heard behind the din of conversation and serving-wear clattering. Oh, and the serving staff is friendly as all get out. As for the food? -chef kiss- My chicken parmigiana was just right, served with a tangy-sweet tomato sauce and cheese that was ever so slightly over-baked. The portions were large enough to make any grandmother happy...you ain't leaving here hungry. I went to eat at Vic's Italian Restaurant late Saturday afternoon around 4:45pm. I was really looking forward to going since I have always really liked it. Today I received the worst service I have experienced. The older man who was the host who greeted me was very rude and disrespectful. I am hearing impaired and have a hard time hearing in louder public settings. I was trying hard, but it didn't seem to matter to him. I have never felt looked down on for my disability until today at Vic's. If you are the owner, and I think you were, you should be ashamed of how you treated me today. You need to work on respecting those with disabilities. Don't ever look down on anyone. I left out of there feeling horrible. Do you treat everyone this way who is different from you? I don't feel welcome there and I don't know if I will ever come back which is really sad. I don't want it to happen to me again or anyone else. Now if your attitude could be as good as your food, then it would be perfect. I

Vic’s was already my favorite pizza in Raleigh and then we stopped in for a sit down Italian lunch. The restaurant is clean but aging. You’re not going to be wowed by the ambiance. That said, the service was friendly and super attentive. And the food, just Wow, pretty sure Nona’s in the kitchen cooking because the food is so good. The veal parm was amazing. Tender, perfectly seasoned, cheesy. The sauce/gravy is tangy, salty, with just the right amount of sweet for balance. Mmm. Someone else had the chicken parm which was also delicious. If you’re looking for classic Italian food, Vic’s is delivering the goods.
