Amazing food and amazing experience. We can get seafood anytime in Charleston, SC, but this is right up there with it. Love the drinks, sat at the bar. Highly recommend.
Vernick Fish is the best restaurant in Philly if your'e looking for an all-around fantastic, seafood-focused dining experience. The service is impeccable and the food is amazing. Ordered the scallop crudo, fried calamari, oysters, crispy grouper, and the hasselback potato... everything was phenomenal. For dessert, the chocolate hazelnut layer cake was very yummy (if you like Ferrero Rocher chocolates, this tastes very similar). Also, as a friendly Birthday gesture, the server very kindly treated us with the meyer lemon meringue cheesecake— super smooth and delicious, and very refreshing after the meal. I have been to many places in Philly and Vernick Fish is one that I will definitely remember. Just excellent.
Vernick Fish was definitely among the best eating experiences I’ve had in Philly, and that’s saying something since Philly is such a strong culinary town. I loved how the menu was so unabashedly seafood, and that translated into the quality of each dish. We got the raw scallops, the sardine toast, sea bass, and branzino. Plus, we got a special that was unparalleled—a hamachi collar, which was our favorite. Everything was amazing, and clearly inspired by different cuisines. The experience is also delightful — airy but warm; high-end but casual. Vernick Fish knows the tone that makes people feel comfortable, and I walked away feeling like I didn’t just enjoy dinner; I had an experience.
