Atmosphere was nice but service and food were lacking. They were not even busy when I went and ordered a cappuccino, sirloin eggs Benedict, and a French toast plate. Food took a good while to come out; eggs Benedict could barely be called warm and French toast was a bit soggy inside. After I got my food THEN I got my coffee (again, they were less than 50% seated). I didn't complain because I was hungry and needed to move on with my day. The menu looked nice but I'll just try other places.
This was our first time at the Urban Farmer, and our dinner was excellent. I started with a butter pecan old fashioned, and we split the beet salad. The salad had a surprising depth of flavor, and perfect salt and pepper. We then had the house corn bread, which was made with blue corn and served with a sea salt butter. It was probably the best corn bread I've ever had. For entrees we had the striped bass and the venison. The skin on the bass was perfectly crispy and delicious. The mint, dill, and chili with the venison made for an amazing dish. We had mushrooms for the side, most of which were grown in terrariums downstairs. They were delicious, and a large enough portion that the two of us couldn't finish them. We finished with the carrot cake, and the mix of goat cheese into the cream cheese frosting transformed it into a much more mature, and wonderful, end to a great meal.
Excellent main course and an average to midland charcuterie. Service was adequate and a little lacking in enthusiasm. About half way through the meal the waiter disappeared and after finishing we waited about 20 minutes contemplating dessert however decided to just leave
