UPTOP JAMAICAN RESTAURANT & LOUNGE

First time here, I wanted to try the oxtails and a patty. Clean place with a small bar/lounge in the back. The person preparing the food has a typical Jamaican attitude - it’s not bad, it just is what it is, bluntly helpful? . If you’re from Miami and eat at Caribbean restaurants you get it. Up Top has a small basic menu. I wanted medium order of oxtails and veggies. They didn’t have mixed veggies, only salad or plantain. So they accommodated me with giving me plantain and oxtails because I didn’t want salad or rice. I added a beef patty and a drink. The Oxtails are good and tasty. My oxtails weren’t out on the hot plate buffet area, it was in the back so I can’t speak to the microwave situation others spoke of. Plantain is Plantain… now the beef patty was terrible! It was old and reheated not fresh. I wouldn’t order that again. I actually wouldn’t come here for patties at all after what I had. I can complain about the price for amount of oxtail ratio but I won’t. I knew I was getti

We looved their jerk chicken over white rice, it was well marinated and stewed for the perfect time! I had never had this kind of jerk chicken before, it’s awesome! Though it’s a little spicy for us, but we finished our plate! They only had jerk chicken and white rice, I wish I could try more food. Service was fast, the chicken is a little colder than rice, but still acceptable.

Food was excellent. Spicy curry chicken and Jerk Pork dishes were amazing????. Best price for Jamaican food SW Miami-Dade County. Serve could be a ????little faster but well worth the wait.
