The overall vibe of the gaslamp strip is on point and this place fits right in. It’s the type of place where you can’t really go wrong and they didn’t go wrong. Low risk place. Average drinks and average meals. High rating for the overall vibe of the location and restaurant.
Following up on a tip from @danavoros, our next review is of Union Kitchen & Tap. Located literally on Highway 101 in Encinitas, the indoor/outdoor dining options are plentiful. The upbeat music suited the overall vibe really well and the BBQ Chicken Flatbread was really good. If you’re looking for a casual date night site with excellent small town downtown strolling opportunities post meal, you need to include @unionkitchentap in your future. Loved the shrimp and grits...loaded.with sausage and maybe 8 shrimp. Appeared ro be like a hominy and not southern style grits.mac and cheese was gooey , bit not your traditional oven baked or elbow noodles, and those fries, pimento cheese and meat...I think brisket was on point. Cornbread with honey!!! Apparently, dogs are allowed to eat in this fine establishment without the service dog designation. You can watch TV in this sport bar atmosphere or cozy up in the rear at your personal table top fire pit or eat out on the patio facing the street. Bring your own sugar for tea! Parking: We parked a block away to learn that there was parking behind the restaurant.
