The Stilwell

We had drinks and an appetizer at Bar Stilwell one evening and the breakfast buffet in the restaurant the next morning. Both were really nice. The drinks were good, with the Kentucky Royal with bourbon, basil syrup and peach liqueur being the favorite. The appetizer was a really fabulous charcuterie board with Ibis bread, peach mustard jam, house pickled veg and some fantastic meats and cheeses. The breakfast buffet was quite good. I’d give it 4 stars because, I mean, it’s a breakfast buffet and some things don’t stay heated well. High points were the service (same as in the bar, very attentive and professional), the bacon, and the veggie frittata. French toast was dry. No one has mentioned it on reviews or on the official website so I’ll mention, the breakfast buffet was $22. But if you’re ordering coffee and juice with it, you’re going to spend almost that much elsewhere so why not get it if you’re staying there for convenience’s sake and variety.

The staff and atmosphere were wonderful. We ordered the whipped goat cheese and it was great and also the shrimp and grits which were good but I've had better. My husband loved the fried chicken. My scallops and crispy rice were over done and hard too chew but good flavor.

Beautiful views no matter what seat you are in. Relaxing jazz music plays in the background to help folks unwind and relax as they dine. You ask, "A hotel restaurant?" My answer, "Stillwell's cuisine and service will blow you away" Try the Crab Cakes or the Charred Brussels & Carrots. You can't go wrong with either.
