The Purple Poulet

Walked in at 8:17 on a Friday, they advertise close at 9:00. I was told they were done seating for the night. For food I assumed. Ok. Bourbon selection looked good so I asked if we could have a glass of bourbon at the bar (seats were available). I was told “we are done seating for the night entirely”. Being new to town, I assumed they would welcome all the business they could get. They must be doing well enough to turn people away already. Won’t be walking back anytime soon.

Great service. The fried chicken and fried catfish were amazing. The bourbon selection was great. The only negative was hearing a lady who was likely the owner, being a bit passive-aggressive towards the bartender in the presence of customers. That was a major turn-off for my wife and I. If not for that, I would give it 5 stars.

We came here for the first time on Father's Day Eve. We were expecting to enjoy it.....but we LOVED it! My husband had the Cola Ribs. He said they were the best ribs he'd ever eaten. I had the Shrimp and Grits. Divine! Couldn't pass up a dish with 'bacon debris' as an ingredient. Be sure to get the Coconut Cake. It's really a pound cake and possibly the best cake I've ever eaten. The service was terrific....shout out to Stephanie! Highly, highly recommend.
