The Porch South Orange

I ordered the fresh fish of the day, which was served with rice and beans and they were delicious. It really hit the spot. The dessert--Fun Fries, they call it, look like French fries, but were really funnel cake and apple. I don't know how they make it but they really do look like fries--but more fun! It's sprinkled with powdered sugar and dipped in caramel sauce. I am still reeling from the sugar high, but it was so worth it! I haven't had this anywhere else. The service by Michael was also excellent.

Stopped in for lunch with a business associate. We ordered a couple burgers and sweet-potato tots. Both servings of tots were really mushy and undercooked. The burger I ordered was supposed to have a fried egg on top. What I received could barely be recognized as an egg (see photo). I showed the severely overcooked egg to the waitress and explained that it wasn't edible. She told us that's how all the eggs come out of the kitchen and I wasn't the first to complain. I asked if something could be done about it and she said "Well, I guess I could mention it to the manager" then walked away. There was no effort to replace the egg. When I finished eating the egg-less burger, we watched her toss the egg in the trash. I'm guessing that there was no effort to inform the manager. Neither my associate or I will be returning.
