The Olive Tree Mediterranean Cafe

I went out of my way to try this place and unfortunately was disappointed. They have some unique and traditional Greek dishes you don't see at most Mediterranean spots, so I was excited to dive into their menu. I ordered online, showed up at pickup time, and found out they didn't have what I had already paid for on their menu anymore; needless to say, my order wasn't made and I had to wait almost 30 minutes for it. Eventually, I had the salmon over mujadara. The rice and lentils had pretty decent flavor and were the most enjoyable part of my meal. The salmon had a good crust, but was really dry, and didn't have much flavor. I had their baba and it was bland; I've never seen it that texture before, and the pita that came with it was dry and not very soft. I hate to write bad reviews for local family-run restaurants, but I wouldn't spend my hard-earned dollars here again.

Shawarma and hummus was Absolutely delicious! We were visiting Columbus from Maryland and after almost 6 hours of driving we arrived at this wonderful restaurant and tried almost the entire menu …chicken Shawarma; spicy chicken with mushrooms; Lamb, chicken, and kafta shish kabob; fried calamari, the fire fries, and the cold appetizers Hummus, Tzatziki, Baba Ghanouj, Matbucha, Machmusa…even the salad tasted delicious ???? this was one of the best if not the best Mediterranean cuisine I have ever tasted…almost forgot the side of gyro pita was to die to for…anyways next time you are in Columbus you know where to go… BTW the service was excellent…the owner Ms. Lara was a great host

Ok, where to start. Ordered a wine, it was vinegar. The lentil soup tasted like burnt chalk. The gyro meat was rubbery and tasteless. Held out hopes for the grape leaves but no. Barely edible. I love Mediterranean food. Wish they had some here.
