The Food Mine

Don't let the lack of curb appeal fool you! This place doesn't look like much from the outside but when you open the door, it's like stepping into another world. Linen tablecloths, cloth napkins, tile floors, a full bar. The food was delicious, and the presentation was great. The cheese grits with shrimp had the perfect bit of heat with jalapeños. The bathrooms were clean too, and I have always heard a clean bathroom indicates a clean kitchen in a restaurant, lol. The staff was very friendly, happily talked about the food and answered our questions. Seriously, give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!

A glorious failure from the get go! 1st rule shattered: LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Tucked between two sleazy bars at a cheesy strip mall in a lower middle class neighborhood with little site line. Clearly the price points aren't intended for the area. Not one appetizer under $10 and a salad is $12. In fact, a side of anything from the breakfast menu is $2-4. $16 for 3 fish tacos and $8 for a KIDS meal! No value to be had here only pretentious snobbery. The novelty will be gone as quick as a beer at 5 in one of the bars. Oh, if you go after dark, watch for tweekers. There's a whole house full of them just two doors behind on the east side!
