The Capital Grille

Recently tried this place for the first time ever on Valentine's Day and both my wife & I had a wonderful evening out. When I made the reservation with Open Table, there was no indication that proof of vaccination was required prior to being seated. My wife & I are both vaccinated but weren't exactly "prepped" to show proof when we confronted the host. Located right in front of the Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel, this sophisticated steakhouse boasts a relatively limited menu but with an extensive wine/cocktail list. Setting is both elegant & romantic, food was superb and less expensive than Ruth's Chris & Fleming's and the service was nothing short of spectacular. Our server Richard did an exceptional job and if we ever dine here again, we're gonna request him as our server.

So we had a small family thing for Mom's birthday. Capital was very warm and welcoming, we got a nice private room for our gathering. We started with some signature cocktails, "in fashion" and "blackberry bourbon" (which I highly recommend). Ordered a few starters, tuna tartare, calamari and burrata salad all very good choices. No one at the table really stepped outside the box for dinner (Filet Mignons) around mostly, then there was me... Let me tell you about this "Mint &Honey Lamb Chops" ???????????? look after drinks and app I wasn't that hungry, but I had to sink my teeth into these well prepared medium rare delicious hunks of meat. My mouth is watering just writing this review a week(?) Later now. Okay, enough of that, so there were also sides, Lobster Mac is seriously the only side you need but if you're not into that ( and you should be) there was also Au Gratin potatos, brussel sprouts (surprisingly good) and creamed spinach. This steakhouse is wonderful. I had Jennifer as my sever and she was amazing. I told them it was my boyfriends birthday in the notes and they gave him a birthday card and confetti on the table. I also requested a booth in the notes and that’s what I was given. Our experience was perfect… the steak was cooked perfect. The complimentary pumpernickel bread was really tasty. We didn’t have to ask for not one thing our entire dinner. They really take care of their customers. I went on a Monday at 5:15pm so if that helps… there was plenty of seats even though we made reservations anyway. I recommend going around that time on a weekday to get the best experience and the music was at a perfect volume. I like that the music was just background music and not overpowering… you can’t definitely hold conversations there.
