The Bar & Bistro

Had dinner on 6/25 with 6:00 reservation. Three of us. Drinks were ordered after several minute wait. All good so far. Took at least 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive even though we were 5 feet from the bar. Ordered 2 appetizers. No calamari. Crab cakes average at best with mostly filler. Ahi tuna was excellent. Ordered another round of drinks. Took at least another 15 minutes to arrive. Main entree eventually brought out after another long wait. Perhaps the reason for the slow service was that there was a Large wedding taking place in the same building. Shared kitchen, perhaps? Won't be going back until they work out their service issues. Place has potential otherwise.

Someone here knows how to cook - sort of. Flavors are generally ok, but missteps like an undercooked omelet, burned English muffins, and under seasoned truffle fries make it hard to call the food “good.” Service doubles down on the poor experience by being super slow and inconsistent. Pancakes delivered - syrup showed up ten minutes later. Most dishes delivered to the table were cold and congealed. One coffee refill when the mug was still half full. Then nothing for the rest of the meal. For the price paid there are better meals to be had in Dayton that will be brought to the table before they get cold.

The chicken confit was divine and so crunchy & tender. I did make sure to add a garlic mashed side and it went so well with the carrots. Highly recommend the drinks were very tasty as well.
