Teppanyaki Kyoto

I prefer cooked Japanese dishes over sushi and sashimi, so this menu was perfect. Quick and attentive service, good selection with very reasonable (even cheap) prices, decent serving sizes for the high quality food. Four people ordered five dishes and three desserts for ~$70. (1) Satsumaimo mochi [seasonal sweet potato mochi, lightly crunchy outside, slightly sweet and so good], (2) grilled scallops [three small but tasty pieces], (3) grilled vegetables [three ish of each, not greasy, high quality], (4) Yaki-Udon with squid [super soft not chewy — though not mushy — udon was great for grandparents; plain squid] (5) Hiroshimayaki with kimchi [Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki made with yakisoba noodles, an interesting try and I remembered I’m not a fan of cooked kimchi because it sours more. But good overall.] Desserts: (1) Sakura mochi, came chilled! So the mochi was nicely chewy without sticking to teeth. Pretty sweet red bean filling, though my sweet tolerance is low and I still loved it.

This is my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. Wow! So delicious! The shrimp Okonomiyaki is delicious. The chicken katsu is flaky and the curry is fantastic. Really everything that we've had is delicious. ???? I recommend trying everything.

The staff is very polite and friendly. The food is great. There are not many other places in Pittsburgh one can get food like they have here. They have hot Japanese style dishes such as okonomiyaki, teppanyaki, katsu and karage. They also carry a wide selection of alcoholic drinks from Japan.
