Tavern on State

I went here for my birthday meal yesterday. Both my wife and I thought everything was fantastic. It was a truly memorable meal, and even the cocktails were totally delicious (sometimes I find cocktails less than the sum of their parts but last night was a rare exception). No real vegan options, but I have come to expect this in the US, so I just took off my vegan hat for the evening and had a great time. Long may Tavern on State continue to deliver this kind of exceptional quality!!

First things first, our servers Lauren and Ashely were great, very kind and attentive. They were handling our table and others with absolute ease. Hats off to them for being great all around. Our food was hands down the best in New Haven. The kitchen was on their A-game tonight, and undoubtedly every other night. The bartenders were also amazing. My girlfriend and I got the “Divide and Concorde”, we loved them. The drinks were made quickly and with consistency each time we got another round. If i could give this place a 6/5 I would. I’ve already recommended this place to everyone I possibly can. Thank you Tavern on State for a wonderful date night!!!

This place was a huge turn off from the moment we walked in. Only good experience was our bartender. Food did smell delicious but we weren’t allowed to order at the bar.
