Taiwan Porridge

Cafeteria style eatery that specializes on serving classic Chinese "tapa" dishes with porridge. Very efficient operation with lots of options that even non-Chinese can appreciate. The thinly sliced cold five-spice beef is exceptional, as is the ground pork w salted greens. The flavors are strong enough to compensate for the watery porridge. It is this last that is sub-par: the porridge (w yam) is overly watered down and clearly cooked for too long. The place is utilitarian, with bare walls & tables, packed a bit too tight. They've been serving the same things too long, so the overcrowding that used to pertain is no longer the case. Half the restaurant is empty on a Satruday morning. I guess that's good for people like me who just walk in.

Got takeout from this place because coronavirus. Food is mostly good but I wish they have half size servings because each portion is fairly large. If you want to try many things and you don't have a lot of people you will end up spending a lot and have a lot of leftovers.

The restaurant is named as Taiwan Porridge but the dishes served are very much northern Chinese tapas dishes. Each one is cold and small in portion, but the flavors are not bad. This is a very small eatery so prepare to rub elbows with your neighboring table.
