Today was my second time ordering from sushi maki after a disappointing experience last time and i’m so glad i gave them a second chance. The fried rice was so much better than before, a lot less oily, the onions tasted amazing and the flavor was on point. Definitely earned back a customer!
So disappointed in what this place has become. It used to be our favorite sushi spot and is now our least favorite. Despite continuing to give them our business and the opportunity to redeem themselves each time, we continue to be disappointed so shame on us. The menu has been drastically reduced, portions much smaller and prices much higher. Yes, we get it, welcome the the new USA. However, the soup that came with one of the meals was brought several minutes after said meal arrived. No utensils as our son does not use chopsticks. Two of us had to wait for about 5 minutes with our sushi rolls at the table because we did not have any soy sauce or soy sauce dishes. There was 1 extra person besides the server and she could have easily been instructed to bring us everything or refill our water glasses which sat empty for most of the meals. I am giving the benefit of the doubt that the extra worker didn't know much about sushi and/or was in training. Doesn't take any knowledge to take car
Food is usually tasty, service is okay could be better. When our server finally came to us today, she was friendly, professional, and polite. Unfortunately, I ordered wok fried rice and there was a roach like insect in my food. A gentleman came outside to see about my complaint, asked to see the bug, which I pulled off the rice and rested on an onion, he threw the onion in the bushes and offered to make me a fresh plate which I declined, nothing appetizing about finding this.
