I was in Chicago recently for a weekend girls’ trip. I made a reservation at Sunda kind of last minute to celebrate my friend’s birthday our first night there. Best decision ever. The energy was amazing as soon as we came in. We were late but the hostess was very accommodating. We were seated quickly and had the privilege of having Ezra as our waiter. He made this an AMAZING experience for us. First of all, the food came out quickly. We tried at least 6 things on the menu and they were all delectable (our favorite was the lump crab noodles and the tempura shrimp). We actually levitated out of our bodies. The drinks are very good too. Now on to Ezra. I love going to nice restaurants and have never had such wonderful, kind, charming, effective service. He made my friend’s birthday an unforgettable night by going above and beyond for us. We just had to sing his praises, and were able to speak to his manager Elena. She was also very kind and affable, which is a pattern at this restaurant.
For a Southeast Asian culinary experience, you have to try Sunda Chicago! Had dinner with friends and had a fun time. Place has a great vibe, good service, and food is yummy. We ordered Papaya Salad, Street Corn, crispy Eggplant Bao bun, Tuna Poke bowl, Hamachi Tartare and Crazy rice. All of dishes were delicious and very flavorful ; I am a vegetarian but my friends loved all the non-veg dishes. Check it out.
Well, it felt like an upscale PF chang! Walking in on firday, we assumed we should have reservations, but we were close by after a site seeing tour. We came to this place based on the reviews on Google. First thing they had us set on the bar event, hough the place was not yet full and it was 6 pm. we didn't even spend more than 1hr in the restaurant. The seating was at the back of the bar felt so isolated like we where not welcomed here !! Then, asked to change our seating to set someplace that feels like your part of the restaurant. The service was fast and slow at the same time, whatever is finished first, yet they served. main course before sushi and we were already full.. The sushi was backed up, and we canceled the order. They seem disorganized, and not enough staff. Unfortunately we had higher expectations but not worth the price for sure.
