Best sandwich shop in the Chicago area! Come for the subs, stay for the soup. I highly recommend the French onion soup but all of their soups are great, make sure you get some to take home! Staff is really friendly too!

Starship is this amazing little place that you could easily mistake for a little hole in the wall as you walk by. Some further inspection will tell you it's a Star Trek themed sandwich joint, but the place needs no gimmicks. The sandwiches are consistently wonderful, and their soups are impressive in both quality and quantity. Sandwiches come with homemade chips, and unless you're very hungry a typical 6" and chips could net you 1-2 meals. They use sesame seed loaves, and they don't skimp on meat/toppings. Rounding out the experience, you have friendly and personable staff, and they bring your food out to you. All in all, Starship is one of the top two reasons I find myself coming back to this area again and again (the other one being Johnnie's), and even with a 40 minute hike the food always makes the journey worth it. Bottom line: fun vibe, great food, nice people. 5/5 do recommend.

Food is amazing. The only issue is we bought some frozen soups and so far the first one I tried was so salty I couldn't eat it. I love my food on the salty side but it was inedible. Maybe just a measuring mistake. Sandwiches are great.
