I had seen Stamatis mentioned on Reddit quite a bit as a staple Greek restaurant in Astoria, so we went and checked it out for lunch on a Sunday. The food was A+, and service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the octopus and filleted grilled fish, they are spectacularly prepared. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and you can get Figo across the street for dessert.
Huge restaurant with good service. The grilled octopus is the winner on the menu. The salads were bland and nothing ordinary. The vegetarian stuffed pepper with rice came with lamb?? The service and the staff is very friendly and accommodating which made up for the OK food.
had a late night dinner so ordered grilled octopus and stuffed cabbages, all very good, light but flavorful. staff was friendly, free bread and dessert were pretty good too
