Smokin J's BBQ

It was a cute little place in old Town Poway. We found it by looking at maps and bbq places. We loved the look of the menu and decided to go. Prices were pretty reasonable. We ordered a 3x3 and a grilled cheese. The food was good. My boyfriend had the 3x3 and liked the pulled pork the best. The beans were very good, but the mac and cheese seemed like it was curdled. Just graining and not very pleasant to eat. The chicken was juicy and tasted great. So overall a good place for. BBQ stop. If you're headed through poway it would be a good place to stop.

Ordered a few items for takeout and it was amazing! Staff was friendly and welcoming on a busy Saturday during lunch rush. I had a bit of a wait from check in , but as expected for such a popular restaurant. As I enjoyed the ambiance waiting at the pickup window, my order came out hot and ready. Their meats are so tasty and flavorful along with all of their sides. Visit Smokin’ J’s today!!

I'm from TN. It's hard to find comparable BBQ in CA. BUT..Smoking J's is the BEST replacement. The brisket melts in your mouth and the taste is what you expect! The beans are a unique taste, unexpectedly delicious. They do bbq beans well here! The chicken is always crispy/tender. I love the pasta salad. I crave this place often.. they have quaint comfortable outside seating. Did I say the best customer service??! Why, yes, it is!! Find out what you've been missing! Wow!!
