Smokehouse Barbecue - Kansas City, MO (Zona Rosa)

We were looking for some good authentic Kansas City barbecue, and it was a Sunday, so several places were closed. We decided to try Smokehouse Barbecue because they were open. Everything was excellent, although my husband's pulled pork sandwich was on the dry side. That, of course, was an easy fix when all you need to do is add more authentic Kansas City barbecue sauce. I ordered the burnt ends, which in my opinion, is the best way to enjoy authentic barbecue and the beans were excellent! The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a gorgeous stained glass oval in the ceiling. I would like to give a shout-out to our waiter. I don't remember his name, but he was a young man. He was new there, and he was excellent! He was so helpful in explaining menu items, was very attentive to our needs, and he had such a sweet and gentle disposition which helped immensely in providing us with a pleasurable dining experience! I got the lunch combo it was really good I actually was full and I have leftovers. Normally I eat all my food so it's a good thing for me. Service was actually really good our waiter knew the menu he didn't even write it down, and we were in and out in no time.

Good food, most of our meal was what you would expect from a BBQ place. Kids menu had adequate options.. The chicken breast was very tender and juicy. The pulled pork nachos were the best thing we ordered. Cocktails were well mixed. The cheesy corn was good, definitely has a cheese product taste instead of true cheese. Our server, Nate, was wonderful. Prompt and very friendly and helpful. Over all, good food, but not anything on the menu that would make want to come back regularly while traveling.
