Slate is the best kept secret in Orlando. The food is really good and the price is just right. I had the roasted romaine lettuce salad along with grilled shrimp. The fried breakfast potatoes are to die for. I also tried their infused ginger vodka drink that has pineapple in lime in it. It was very tasty. The food was so good. I had to take the smoked brisket scrambled eggs to go. Destiny was an excellent waitress. The chef actually prepares his food with a smile on his face. His Sue Chef and Side Chef was a delight to see in action. Slate is a great family atmosphere. You can see the staff love what they do . Great customer service. Nice family atmosphere. When you come to Orlando, if you miss this place, you have missed the best part of Orlando. The Slate staff(Family) is very diverse along with their customers. Features: Slate has done a good job regarding social distance for their customers. They offer indoor and outdoor seating.
This restaurant is very cute and has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Maybe we were unlucky but after a great start and a delicious starter, everything went wrong. Had to send back both burger as undercooked. The died up, rock hard brisket was send back as well as the truffle French fries that did not have any truffle sauce (served with ketchup instead) and had black patches all over the potatoes. The meal was replaced but after having to wait for over an hour we didn’t want to eat anymore. The waitress apologised numerous times and explained they were two people short in the kitchen and the chefs covering didn’t really know how to work those stations but that should not have been our problem. The bill was paid in full but I would have expected for at least a dessert to be offered to compensate for the poor food and long wait. Disappointing.
Don’t let the nice decoration fool you. Pretty restaurant does not equal good food. As soon as I walked in I realized the place was almost empty. I thought that was odd because it was a Saturday at 12pm and all brunch restaurants had a 2 to 3 hour wait. I decided to still give it a chance. I will say the service was amazing. Our server was friendly and always checking up on us. The food though.. Let’s start off with my plate. I ordered the croque madame croissant. Instead of serving a nice, big croissant they did two small ones, which were both burnt. The eggs were perfectly cooked with a runny yolk, but it only had one sad, thin slice of ham. On top of that, there was barely any cheese or béchamel sauce. I even had to ask because I thought they forgot to add it. Someone else ordered the brioche french toast which did have a nicer presentation but still barely any flavor or toppings. The only thing worth it on the menu were the brisket benedict eggs, which were delicious and perfectly
