We’re not from St. Louis so we decided to go by reviews of this place and everyone says it’s amazing’. Well people of St. Louis have bland af taste buds! The crab ragoon was so bland my grandma would add salt to it to give it some flavor. The general chicken and ‘sesame’ chicken were over fried, crispy, burnt pieces of unknown food particles that is in a bland sauce. Even the fortune cookies were stale and bland. Would not recommend to anyone new to St. Louis actually looking for good Chinese.
Visiting family on a Sunday evening; they order from here once in a while. Food was plentiful & good flavor, egg rolls were huge! My only critique is, I wish there were sizing\ portion options with lower prices. The ToGo container of pork fried rice was So Full, a smaller\ less expensive option would have suited us better (m.i.l doesn't like leftovers so we took it home). Odd thing: at our Hazelwood nearby Chinese place, my *fave* dish is called Moo Goo Gai Pan; at Sesame it is called Flower Chicken. Not sure why? It's a lighter, kinda clear sauce, of chicken & veggies. Tasted great. Oh hubby's sweet & sour chicken DID have pineapple, which I guess is hit or miss, and important to some folks (but not to him). We'll order again in the future when visiting.
We ordered egg drop soup, crab rangoon, vegetable lo mein and vegetable fried rice and it was all horrible. There was no taste to any of it and the crab rangoon were real chewy and soft with no taste in the filling - no crab obviously. Almost like they just filled them with plain cream cheese. The egg drop soup wasn't even salty or anything it really didn't have a taste either. The noodles and the rice were way overcooked and real mushy. Even the fortune cookie was soft and chewy almost like it was wet. Disgusting. I don't know how this place got the reviews it did but I'll never eat there again.
