Scarlet Knife

Big and bold was our first impression upon snagging a table without a reservation on opening night. Kudos to the owners for an ambitious start and re-imagining the wasteland of a demised K-Mart. The decor is sleek and sophisticated with a large kitchen as a backdrop and beautifully appointed details including an outdoor space complete with bar. The staff is attentive and eager to please. Even with live music and a bustling crowd, the noise level was moderate. There are some issues with the food and drinks, understandable during opening week, but with the price structure there needs to be improvements. The Dayboat Bluefin Tartar came with an impressive and bright yuzu foam and the rest of it was bland. One wished for some heat from wasabi or chili, with something more interesting instead of the tasteless rice, and uninspired taro chips. The eye catching presentation of the Tableside Blackforest Blaze failed to materialize in flavor and ended up tasting like cherry cough syrup

10/10 of ten! Great food and service ETA the reservations were full but we were able to walk in and get a table no problem

I think we've found our new favorite place in the Capital District! Fine dining with a focus on farm to table fresh ingredients...the perfect combination. Try the wild boar and the duck cassoulet for something different! The wine list can't be beat, and our dessert (bread pudding) was decadent and luscious. Reminds me of places we used to eat in Scottsdale and Las Vegas! Many of the "fine dining" places here are lacking in either quality or ambience, and Scarlet Knife has absolutely set the bar higher. We will absolutely be back!
