The Food was Wonderful, The Waitress was Outstanding, The Service was Impeccable! I believe we have found our New Restaurant. Great Variety for southern Home Cooking to Great BBQ . Highly recommend this addition to Rowlett's Great Places to Dine.

Why must there be only 5 stars? This is 5 star plus. The food was absolutely delicious. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I've ever had. The meat was top quality never frozen, made in house, no gristle, just tender juicy steak, breaded to perfection. The potatoes were excellent and the gravy did not need extra seasoning. The green beans were homemade southern. The sliced BBQ beef was lean and faultless. The BBQ sauce was just right, not too sweet. The onion rings were outstanding, have never tasted better. The barbecue chopped beef sandwich is by far the best I've ever eaten. The bun is huge and incredibly fluffy and it makes the sandwich unusually pleasing to the senses. Sammy Lou's has an ample array of sides. Having come to this restaurant a number of times and eaten many different menu items, I can categorically say this is the best place for authentic down home cooking. Decided to give this place a try. The service was friendly and a hostess did greet us but you pick your seat. There is a separate bar area with seating, the regular dining area is separate and outside seating is off the bar area. Food options were both BBQ and home cooked foods. Dessert options and a kids menu. We ordered sweet tea and it was very sweet. The food was very food and good sized portions. Sweet BBQ sauce is on the table and they bring the spicy BBQ sauce in a cup. It was hot spicy buy peppery spicy. We will definitely go back and try different plates.
