Sakana Sushi Bar

Small but cozy Japanese place. Items are cooked to order so be patient, the sushi takes a bit longer. The calamari was so delicate and beautiful, it was paired with a perfect spicy mayo (not sure of the sauce), I ordered the teriyaki chicken and I didn't enjoy it, Mild flavor and dry, however I paid for extra calamari sauce and boom... delish!! Time to battle up that sauce and sell it to me lol. The mochi was ok, i don't love the outer layer texture but it was beautifully presented. Had a weird experience with the waitress but the manager addressed it right away and was very professional. We'll be back for sure!

Update 11/22 We’ve been back several times because this is our daughters favorite place to visit. The sushi is great, we’ve tried several rolls and they’ve all been fantastic. The gyoza and lettuce wraps are both really yummy too. The staff is very friendly. The sushi we got was really great, dragon roll and Vegas roll. The chicken was only ok and one of our pieces tasted like fish. The miso soup and salad were not very good at all, in fact, our salads had half an inch of dressing in the bottom of the bowl. The wait staff were very nice but seemed to be in a very big hurry to have us order and then be done.

Sakana is our favorite sushi restaurant in SLC. The fish is always fresh and delicious without too much sauce, just like the amazing sushi we used to have in Southern California. The staff is the best. Can't wait to go again.
