Saigon Deli dba John Pho ‘N Bar

Our first visit since they re-opened did not disappoint! I had the chicken bahn mi and it was fantastic. Even better than I remembered. Very nice interior too!

Tried the shrimp Pho and it was ok. The broth had a bland flavor and wasn’t hot and the vegetables were not cooked well. The tray that came didn’t have lemon grass or Thai basil sadly like most Pho dishes. The portion size was skimpy for the price point and came in a small plastic bowl. Makes me believe it was just microwaved. Overall was not impressed. There are much better places to choose from. I won’t eat here again.

Saigon Deli - Best Authentic Vietnamese Pho In Gainesville! We have enjoyed Gainesville’s best pho restaurant many times! (“Best”=Personal opinion and 2020 “Best of Gainesville” winner) It is our favorite culinary luxury. Saigon Deli makes such a delicious beef tenderloin that my choice is the “grilled rare tenderloin steak pho - gluten free”. (See photo). John is talented, enthusiastic and always eager to please, and keeps adding fresh decor touches to brighten and elevate the interior/outside dining experience. In addition to beef, pork and chicken, there are salmon and also vegan choices that keep the “Saigon Deli” on our year-round restaurant list. Because the noodles and crispy egg rolls are made with rice flour instead of wheat flour, they are lower in carbohydrate sugars and gluten-free, allowing my husband and I to enjoy an appetiser before tucking into the fresh-spice-topped pho of our choice — without tipping the scales the next day!
