Saffron Patch in the Valley

It's been quite a while since I've been here -- not since before Covid-- so I wasn't sure what to expect. We tried the lunch buffet and it was very good. There were three great vegetarian entrees (dal makhani, curried paneer & veggies, and a very spicy cabbage dish) in addition to the salad, pakoras, naan, rice, chai, and three non vegetarian dishes (fish, tandoori chicken, and a goat dish). The dining room is clean and well lit, and the servers bring naan to he table, which is a nice touch. We all loved the gulab jamoon (sp?) desert -- little balls that reminded me of idli soaked in a cardamom syrup. Fantastic. The price is around $18 or $19 per person, which seemed about right. As busy as they got, nothing seemed to run out or get cold. I was a bit saddened when the Raj Mahal closed several years ago, but the buffet here is every bit as good.

Great service & great food. It may be on the pricy side for a night out but it’s definitely worth it! The portions are huge & they gave us extra rice to take home on the side! Definitely recommend if you love Indian food & the environment!
